It's been rather a long time since our last news post. Sorry about that! But to kick off the New Year the gigs list has been updated with all our forthcoming gigs. We'd also like to formally welcome our newest member Dave Andrews on drums, who has been playing with us since 2019, as well of course to Rachel Hayward on banjo who we forgot to put a news up about when she joined in October 2018 (sorry Rachel!). You can read more about Dave and Rachel on our The Band page.
Now that we have started 2020, wouldn't it be wonderful if this was the start of a new Roaring 20's and the second jazz age! Anyway we hope to see you at a gig soon.
We would like to welcome Vic Partridge to the band on guitar and banjo. Vic has been very active on the South Wales and the West Country jazz scene throughout his 40 year career. You can read all about Vic on The Band page.
Vic replaces Phil Probert who has decided to pass on the plectrum, and who we would like to wish all the best for his future gigs!
We would like to welcome Roger Wells who has joined the band on drums, replacing Ian Parry who recently left to pursue pastures new. Roger started playing in the Bristol area many years ago. He played with The Severn Jazzmen, The Imperial Jazz Band and Des Bacon's Moten Swing as well as depping with other local bands. From 1999-2006 he led The New Orleans Hotshots playing at festivals and jazz clubs around the country. Recently he has been playing with Roger Wells' Dixie Hotshots.
Here's another video from Albrighton Jazz Club 90, with Russian Lullaby
We had a great gig this week at Albrighton Jazz Club 90. Here's a video of Up A Lazy River, featuring Dave on his flugelbone!
We've been busy lately, and been lucky to have some of our performances filmed. Here's a video from our set at Upton Jazz Festival 2017, with Tin Roof Blues. More to follow!
We've been played on the BBC! Thanks to John Hellings for playing a selection of tracks from our new CD on his BBC Local Radio show 'Jazz with John Hellings'
